Musco Lighting has
agreed to provide a new lighting system
at Babe Ruth League’s Don Edwards Park,
Newark, Ohio.
“This complex will be a model of
an ideal Babe Ruth League field,” said Ron
Tellefsen, president and CEO. “We’re looking
forward to making Don Edwards Park a premier
showcase for youth baseball, and a Musco
Lighting system on the main field will be
a wonderful addition,” Ron continued.
Don Edwards Park consists of a 30-acre
complex with four full-size baseball fields,
including the 3,000-seat main stadium where
the new lights will be installed. The 2004
Babe Ruth League World Series, 16-18 year
division, will be held at the main stadium.
Many other events, including state high
school tournaments, are planned for this
field.
Musco
Lighting was named the Official Lighting
Company of Babe Ruth League, Inc. in 2001. As part of that sponsorship,
Musco systems were installed at Marius E.
Bonnacci Field, Hamilton, New Jersey, a
2001 Babe Ruth League World Series site. The same
television quality lighting is planned for
Don Edwards Park’s main stadium.
Tellefsen said Musco’s sponsorship
of Babe Ruth baseball League, Inc. has
been a “valuable resource for our leagues.”
Musco worked with Babe Ruth to define appropriate
lighting levels for their facilities, including
tournament sites. Setting lighting standards
help appropriately showcase the activities
of Babe Ruth baseball and softball. Musco
also sponsors an annual lighting grant program,
allowing four leagues per year to realize
their dream of a lighted field sooner.
For many years, Musco has made a
commitment to youth athletics through support
of recreational and sports organizations.
“The Musco Team is proud to be a Babe Ruth
League sponsor, and we’re glad for the opportunity
to help develop Don Edwards’ Park into one
of the best youth ballparks in the country,”
said Joe Crookham, Musco president.
For
25 years, Musco has focused on the design
and manufacture of affordable, energy efficient
sports-lighting systems that are neighborhood
friendly. Their experience with thousands
of facilities helps leagues select appropriate
lighting systems, custom adapted to each
league’s particular needs.
Musco technology has also provided
unique solutions for major facilities such
as the recent Sydney Olympic Games, NASCAR’s
premier superspeedways, and many NFL, NBA,
NHL and professional baseball facilities
at all levels. Musco’s high-profile truck-mounted
mobile lighting systems provide Musco an
opportunity for extensive research of lighting
techniques. They are used to light high
profile and demanding events such as college
football and Super Bowl games and movies
such as Titanic and Field of Dreams.
