Babe Ruth League, Inc. has named
ScorePAD, the PDA-based baseball scoring system,
its official scorekeeping and statistics software
for the 2003-04 World Series. ScorePAD will be
used to score each game and compile all statistics
associated with nine World Series venues for the
next two seasons.
Each youth age group will compete
at one of nine venues located throughout the United
States. Venues for 2003 Babe Ruth Baseball World
Series include: Williamsburg, VA, Aberdeen, MD,
Pine Bluff, AR, Quincy, MA, Williston, ND, Jamestown,
NY and Weimar, TX. The 2003 Softball World Series
will be hosted in Wilson County, NC, and Louisville,
KY.
Douglas Hines, President of ScorePAD,
is pleased ScorePAD will represent one of the
largest and fastest growing organizations of youth
baseball and softball in the country. "We
are happy that Babe Ruth League, Inc. chose to
use ScorePAD for their World Series events. We
designed ScorePAD to help leagues like Babe Ruth
score games easily and communicate the results
of those games on paper, through beaming, email,
and Internet posting. Now amateur leagues receive
the same mobility of information as the pros."
Joe Smiegocki, Babe Ruth League,
Inc. Vice President of Operations & Marketing,
liked ScorePAD's reputation in the field. "We
are very excited about starting this new relationship
with ScorePAD Sports. ScorePAD's handheld scoring
system will be used at all nine World Series sites
to easily score, track and disseminate game information
over the Internet. The participating teams' hometown
fans can keep track of their progress through
the event from hundreds of miles away."
Amateur leagues have used
ScorePAD since 1999 to score games, calculate
statistics and post results to the Internet. ScorePAD
has been used by Major League Baseball officials
and broadcasters since 2000. During the 2002 season,
over 2,400 television telecasts used ScorePAD.
Babe Ruth League, Inc. will hold its 52nd annual
13-15 Year-Old World Series in August of 2003.
The international organization has a glorious
history dating back to 1951 and its growth has
increased steadily from its first 10-team league
in Hamilton Township, New Jersey, to its present
combined size of over 886,500 players on some
45,200 teams in more than 7,300 leagues.
