BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECT NEW PRESIDENT/CEO

Steven Tellefsen of Hamilton Township, New Jersey was elected President/CEO of Babe Ruth League, Inc. by the organization’s International Board of Directors on April 7, 2005. He succeeds Ronald Tellefsen, who served as President/CEO for 25 years until his recent passing.

Steven Tellefsen is well experienced in youth sports having played, umpired and volunteered for many years throughout his youth and adult life. Mr. Tellefsen’s employment with Babe Ruth League, Inc. began in 2000 when he was hired as National Commissioner.

As Commissioner, he successfully administered the New England, Southeast, Southwest and Midwest Plains regions earning the respect of the multitude of volunteer field commissioners under his domain.

Prior to being named Commissioner, Steven Tellefsen had an exemplary military career with the United States Marine Corps. After serving our country, and prior to joining the Babe Ruth team, he was employed with United Parcel Service for 13 years. As a UPS employee, Mr. Tellefsen was recognized and awarded for outstanding service to the company.

“Steven Tellefsen is the perfect person to serve as President/Chief Executive Officer of Babe Ruth League, Inc.,” said Bill Smith, Chairman of the International Board. “He brings energy, vision and warmth as well as a thorough understanding of the workings of the program. His new responsibilities will ensure continuity of the progress and success achieved under Ron Tellefsen’s leadership. The future of the program is in excellent hands.”

In accepting the position, Steven commented, “For me, this is a dream realized. I only wish my father were here to share this moment with me. Babe Ruth League, Inc. is one of the premier youth programs in the world. With the solid foundation laid by my father, our dedicated staff and our loyal volunteer base, I am looking forward to our prospects for the future. I am eagerly looking forward to working with each member of our Babe Ruth family to keep Babe Ruth League, Inc. on the cutting edge of the youth baseball and softball arena.”

Babe Ruth League, Inc. is a non-profit, educational organization dedicated to developing better citizens by providing properly supervised baseball and softball competition for players ages 5-18. Established in 1951, there are now over 8,400 leagues and 51,000 teams representing almost one million players in the United States and Canada. It is the fundamental belief of Babe Ruth League, Inc. that every child with a desire to play baseball or softball be afforded that opportunity.
